Travel Information

Travelling by Air

The closest and best-connected airport is Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport (OTP). From here, there are multiple transportation options to the city center and the workshop venue, including the train, bus, taxis, and ride-sharing services such as Bolt and Uber.

The most direct route from the airport to the city center is bus 100. The journey takes between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on trafic. Tickets can be bought directly on the bus. The cost for a one-way (single) bus ticket is 3 RON (about 0.59 euros), and it is valid for 90 minutes. More information about public transport ticket options and prices can be found here. In addition to Google Maps, you can also use this website for directions and public transport options on different routes.

The fastest way to get from the airport to the city center is by train, as it does not depend on urban trafic. Trains depart from the airport every 40 minutes. The tickets can be bought directly from the train and the cost of a one-way (single) ticket is 6.5 RON (about 1.3 euros). The train journey from the airport to Gara de Nord station takes about 25 minutes. From there, we recommend taking the subway to the city center. A one-way subway ticket costs 5 RON (about 0.98 euros).

If you prefer private transport services, we recommend to choose Bolt or Uber rather than taxis.

Moving Around in Bucharest

Bucharest has many public transport options, such as busses, trams, trolleybuses and subway lines. It is also very easy to use ride-sharing apps like Uber and Bolt. However, if you choose this option, please note that the prices can vary significantly depending on the time of day you might need a ride.

You will also find a lot of electric scooters and bikes throughout the city, which you can rent via the same ride-sharing apps.

For more information about the available public transport options, please check this website or ask any of the local organizing committee members.
